This week’s L.A. style is inspired by my shopping excursion this past weekend. I saw tons of peplum and peplum-like accents on many types of garments. Tops, jackets and skirts all bearing that adorable ruffle in a variety of ways that kept me interested and looking for more. I love the way designers have kept it fresh by varying the length, direction and decoration on peplum. But what really struck me was how I was inspired to wear it and here’s why. I’ve noticed that most fashion ads and magazines feature peplum on or with a skirt. On occasion I’ve noticed it styled with pants, mostly jeans and cigarette style pants which I love. But as I was venturing from store to store, I kept envisioning this trend with shorts. Nothing casual of course, very elegant and chic shorts. Something that would work for a special night out or even your typical L.A. party.

Perhaps I was warm and inspired by the great weather, or maybe it’s the added sex appeal of something short. Whatever the case, I kept visualizing a peplum top with a great pair of shorts. Here’s my play on peplum. How do you wear your peplum?
